Summary
This project will start with an existing agent based model of travel behaviour and by applying it in new settings and analysing new datasets improve the representation of how the environment (e.g. traffic stress, parking, greenery, points of interest, crime) affect walking and cycling and car use and ownership. We are interested in developing generalisable behavioural rules and understanding that can be applied across settings. We are also interested in how the extensive literature on the built environment determinants of active travel can be better integrated with transport modelling approaches. The project will involve data analyses and simulation model development. Willingness to learn Java coding would be beneficial.
