Researchers at the MRC Epidemiology Unit seek to better understand the complex interplay between the genetic, developmental, behavioural and environmental factors that operate throughout life and influence the risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic disorders. Our researchers also develop and evaluate strategies to prevent these diseases and their consequences. We are constantly looking for people to participate in our research and help us achieve these objectives.
If you have received an invitation to help us with our research or would like more information, you are welcome to either:
- e-mail us at studyhelp@mrc-epid.cam.ac.uk
- call us on 01223 330315

How we recruit research participants
We recruit our research participants through a variety of methods including:
- GP surgeries
- diabetes clinics
- maternity hospitals
- local press advertisements
- local schools and colleges
- social media channels
- partner organisations
Before taking part in our research, prospective participants are invited to read a participant information sheet, and discuss any questions they may have with the research team. They then complete a consent form if they wish to participate, but may withdraw from the research at any time.
