Adults over the age of 16 who live in Northstowe and have not claimed any travel incentives are able to take part in the study.

If you are eligible to take part, you received a letter through the post with details about the study and how to get involved on Monday 04 October 2021. This letter includes further information and usernames and passwords for you and other members of your household. Each household member needs to use a separate username and password so please make sure these are only used once for each household member. To access an online survey using this weblink: www.webforms.mrc-epid.cam.ac.uk/ican.

If you decide to take part, we will ask you to complete a survey which should take no longer than 10 minutes. Once you have completed the survey, you will be randomly assigned to one of three groups.

Group 1: Control Group

• Nothing will change and you will continue to be able to claim the travel benefits from www.northstowe.com

Group 2: Intervention group

• You will receive a range of travel benefits directly via email

Group 3: Intervention plus group

• You will receive a larger amount of additional travel benefits directly via email.

We’ll contact you again after three and six months to complete a shorter survey. You will also have the opportunity to take part in some additional research interviews to tell us about your experiences of moving to Northstowe, travel within the town and your use of the travel incentives.

A selection of study participants will be invited to take part in a further interviews, to understand in more detail your experience of using the incentives, as well as experiences of moving to Northstowe and travel within the town. These interviews are optional and you are not obliged to take part if contacted by the research team. More details of the interviews can be found in the participant information sheet.
