Studies suggest that parents of younger children (under 5s) are less active than parents with older children. Considering the many physical and mental health benefits of physical activity, we wanted to find out what changes in the physical activity behaviours of parents as their children move from infancy to primary school to find ways to increase the physical activity levels of parents of younger children. We also wanted to find out whether and how experiences differ for mother and fathers.
We created the Parental Experiences of Physical Activity study to hear about experiences of physical activity from both fathers and mothers.
