All participants from Phase 1 of the Fenland Study who agreed to be re-approached for future research are eligible for Fenland Study Phase 3 (Fenland 3).
For Fenland 3 we have introduced a bespoke Fenland Study app. Participants with compatible devices can use the app to complete questionnaires and some measurements digitally at their own convenience in their own homes before the clinic visit. The app will also allow participants to get detailed feedback on their own results direct to their phone, as well as keep up with the latest news from the study.
Alternatively, participants can complete questionnaires at home using our online forms. If this is not possible, the option of completing questionnaires during the clinic visit is available.
Participants are invited to attend a clinic visit at one of our three testing facilities in Cambridgeshire. This visit includes collection of blood and urine samples, an oral glucose tolerance test, height, weight, hip & waist measurements, a blood pressure reading, an ECG (electrocardiogram), body fat distribution measurement using ultrasound and Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA), and a fitness test.
Participants will be asked to wear a wrist-worn activity monitor to measure their activity during their everyday life for 7 days prior to the clinic appointment.
Watch Prof Nick Wareham introduce Fenland 3 and outline the benefits of using the study app
