We are establishing a capacity-building network between all the institutions we collaborate with globally. Activities will include joint PhD supervision, post-doctoral training, provision of short courses, and staff and student exchanges.

International Epidemiology Training

The Unit provides a range of training opportunities to support global public health.

• Physical activity measurement seminar. Every two years, the Unit runs a five day intensive residential physical activity measurement course in order to promote high quality fieldwork, increase understanding of measurements principles, and support different methods of data analysis. The seminar attracts delegates from across the globe, from countries including Barbados, Colombia, Denmark, India, Germany, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, and Turkey, with more than 80% coming from outside the UK.  Find out more about the physical activity measurement seminar.

• WHO/IDF/EASD Cambridge Diabetes Seminar. The Cambridge Diabetes Seminar provides a unique opportunity for participants from a range of backgrounds including clinical, research and public health, to engage in discussion, debate and collaboration on prominent issues in diabetes epidemiology. It aims to provide all those attending with a common goal to become better equipped in the epidemiological and public health aspects of diabetes and helps to foster international networks. 37 of the 42 participants in the 2015 Cambridge Diabetes Seminar came from countries outside the UK, and almost a third from countries outside Europe and North America.  Find out more about the Cambridge Diabetes Seminar.
