Current work and interests
Yuru is a Research Associate within the Population Health Interventions programme. Yuru’s PhD, undertaken at the Unit, examines the current landscape of the out-of-home food environment in the UK, and evaluates the impact of relevant policies that occur during the PhD studentship. Her search involved establishing a longitudinal database using web scraping techniques for nutritional data on food served by the largest 100 UK chain restaurants.
Background and experience
Before joining the Unit, Yuru worked as a staff fellow at the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). She holds a Master’s degree in Epidemiology from Johns Hopkins University.
