Work and interests
Sara was a Career Development Fellow with the Aetiology of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders programme, who left the unit in February 2017. In her postdoctoral research, her major focus is on using genetic epidemiologic approaches to improve the understanding of the complex aetiology of diabetes and related metabolic disorders.
Background and experience
After qualifying as a medical doctor from Utrecht University, the Netherlands, Sara started a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology at the Department of Epidemiology, Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands focusing on gene discovery and genetic risk prediction in cardiometabolic traits. She combined her PhD with a Master of Science degree in Health Sciences, specializing in genetic epidemiology, at the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES), Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
