Current work and interests
Richard’s primary responsibility is supporting the anthropometry specialist with the anthropometry and body composition activities of the unit as well as having data collection responsibilities across a number of studies alongside the Cambridge Epidemiology & Trials Unit (CETU) staff.
Background and experience
Richard graduated with a degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Gloucestershire and has a MSc in Exercise and Sport from Manchester Metropolitan University. In July 2007, Richard started as the anthropometry research assistant in the unit, working for the anthropometry specialist and the Field Epidemiology team.
During his time in the unit, Richard has supported the development of streamlined pipelines and infrastructure alongside the data management and IT teams by optimising data cleaning and QC processes to enable a more efficient and flexible data turnaround. Richard has also developed new obesity phenotypes that match DEXA body composition variables using bioelectrical impedance analysis.
