Work and interests
Michael was a research fellow at the Institute for Health Economics and Health Care Management (Helmholtz Zentrum München) and a third year PhD student at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich when visiting the Prevention of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders group. His project ass about the cost effectiveness of early intensive treatment in patients with screen detected diabetes in the ADDITION trial.
His thesis focuses on the impact of disease management strategies (self- management, structured disease management programs) on outcomes (quality of life, mortality, QALYs, costs) in patients with diabetes and cardiovascular comorbidities.
