Current work and interests
Luiza joined the Unit in November 2022 and works as MRC Postdoctoral Fellow under the supervision of Esther van Sluijs. Luiza’s research interests include children’s Physical Activity behaviour, measurement, and socioeconomic inequalities, especially gender inequalities.
Background and experience
Luiza Ricardo holds a Physical Education degree (2013), a MSc in Physical Activity and Health (2014) and a PhD in Epidemiology (2019) from the Federal University of Pelotas. During her PhD she developed an accelerometry protocol for the one-year-old follow-up of the 2015 Pelotas birth cohort study and studied the correlates of accelerometry-based physical activity among infants and toddlers.
She also has worked as postdoctoral researcher at the International Center for Equity in Health (2019-2022), analyzing health inequalities using household survey data.
