Senior Research Associate
Diet and Physical Activity Interventions in Patient Populations
Current work and interests
Linda Oude Griep is a Senior Research Associate to lead the development of research on diet and physical activity interventions in patient populations for the NIHR Biomedial Research Centre Theme on Diet, Lifestyle and Nutrition.
Linda’s research focuses on the influence of dietary factors, with specific interest in plant foods, in the maintenance of cardiovascular health. Linda is Principal Investigator of the CIRCUS study, which evaluates the effects of types of fruits and vegetables on vascular function. The CIRCUS Study was developed as part of her Imperial College Junior Research Fellowship (2014-2018). She received a Springboard award from the Academy of Medical Sciences (2018) to expand the CIRCUS study and to integrate metabolomic approaches to aid the investigation of complex relations of fruit and vegetable consumption on cardiovascular health.
Background and experience
Linda gained experience in epidemiological field work as member of the Exective Committee of the Alpha Omega Trial, a multi-centre intervention study to test the effects of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular events in 4,837 myocardial infarction patients. She became a research associate at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Imperial College London on the international INTERMAP study (2012-2014) and was awarded an Imperial College Junior Research Fellowship to integrate metabolomics approaches in nutritional research (2014-2018).
Linda received a BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics (2000, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences), and an MSc in Nutrition and Health (2003, Wageningen University). She successfully completed her PhD in nutritional epidemiology on fruit and vegetable consumption and the risk of cardiovascular diseases at Wageningen University (2011).
