Current work and interests
Jakub is a Visiting Scientist at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. His MRC-funded PhD was supervised by Professor Nita Forouhi and Dr Fumiaki Imamura.
Background and experience
Jakub obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Dietetics at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences. He then completed a part-time distance learning Master’s programme in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. While studying Epidemiology, he worked at the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw, Poland as Research Co-ordinator of a University College London-led study of cardiovascular disease risk factors in vegetarian and vegan children. During this period, he also contributed to work in adult vegetarians at the University of Oxford in EPIC-Oxford and UK Biobank studies.
Prior to joining the MRC Epidemiology Unit, Jakub worked at the Imperial College London as Research Assistant in a systematic reviews and meta-analyses group which prepares evidence synthesis on anthropometry, diet, physical activity and risk of cancer for the reports of the World Cancer Research Fund.
