Work and interests
Dr Clara Podmore (née Kelliny), was a Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellow in the Aetiology of Diabetes and Related Metabolic Disorders programme, working with Dr Claudia Langenberg and Prof. Nick Wareham, and completed her PhD fellowship in September 2016. Her area of interest is iron metabolism and its association with Type 2 Diabetes. She is part of the Genetics of Iron Status Consortium and works on several epidemiological studies, including InterAct, EPIC-Norfolk, Fenland and CoLaus. Clara also tought on the MPhil in Epidemiology course at the University of Cambridge and is a reviewer for Clinical Endocrinology.
Background and experience
Prior to moving to Cambridge, where she completed an MPhil in Epidemiology with Distinction, Clara qualified as an medical doctor from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and trained as an internist at the Lausanne University Hospital.
