Current work and interests
Chunxiao is a Research Associate, who previously was a PhD student on a Jardine Cambridge Scholarship, working under the supervision of Professor Nicholas Wareham. Her research interest lies in investigating the effects of environmental and behavioural changes, in interaction with a genetic predisposition in type 2 diabetes risk in the general population.
Background and experience
Prior to joining the Unit, Chunxiao completed her Master’s degree in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Peking University in 2018. During the 3-year course, she participated in the Chinese National Twin Registration and China Kadoorie Biobank study groups with systematically training in epidemiology research. Her Master’s study mainly focused on the epigenome-wide association between DNA methylation and blood lipid levels, and obesity. Her study also looked at the epigenetic clock of ageing based on DNA methylation biomarkers. Chunxiao has obtained a Bachelor of Medicine from Qilu Medical School, Shandong University with honours in 2015.
