Current work and interests
Chen was a PhD student on the Wellcome Trust 4-year Programme in Metabolic and Cardiovascular Diseases, working under the supervision of Dr Claudia Langenberg to characterize gene-specific effects of LDL cholesterol on type 2 diabetes using metabolomics.
Background and experience
Chen’s Masters study was in molecular and cell biology in the University of Alberta in Canada, after which she moved to Cambridge, UK for PhD training in genetic epidemiology. Her current project studies the role of genomic markers of ageing, including telomere length, DNA methylation and chromosome loss, in determining the risk of metabolic disease.
