Current work and interests

Beatriz joined the Unit in March 2023 as part of the Core Laboratory Team in the Epidemiology Unit. Her work involved supporting a variety of studies at the unit. Beatriz is interested in microbiology antimicrobial resistance genetics as well as genetically linked metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes. She left the Unit in April 2024.

Background and experience

Beatriz has a Bachelors of Science (BSc) in Biomedical Science and a Masters of Science (MSc) in Applied Bioscience from Anglia Ruskin University. She started her career as a research assistant through student internship at Anglia Ruskin University for an anti-VEGF meta-analysis project followed by a 7-month period as a Senior Trainer and Genetic Technologist at Oncologica. Before joining the unit, Beatriz worked as a laboratory demonstrator and laboratory technician for Anglia Ruskin University.
