Current work and interests
Abi is the Data Team Lead for the Blue Team within the Data Management Team.
Background and experience
Abi graduated with a degree in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol and then completed a PhD in Medicine at the University of Birmingham in 2007. Her PhD research focused on HLA genetic determinants in Type 1 diabetes.
She joined the MRC Epidemiology Unit in 2008 as a Research Assistant in the Laboratory Team. In 2011 Abi became the Laboratory Manager for the Sample Management and Biomarkers Measurement group in the Laboratory team.
At the start of 2019 Abi moved into the Data Management team as a Database Specialist/Data Engineer working on the EPIC-Norfolk study. She was then promoted to Data Team Lead for the Data Management Blue team in 2022.
