The organisational structure of the European Union FP7-funded project (2013 – 2017) was based on four horizontal scientific themes linked to the research community that was designed to maintain a strong scientific imperative and ensure alignment with current and future directions. These Research Networks comprised:
- Gene-environment interaction in pregnancy and childhood (Lead: Gernot Desoye)
- Incidence of type 1 diabetes (Lead: Mikael Knip)
- Development of obesity (Lead: Ruth Loos)
- Incidence of type 2 diabetes (Lead: Nick Wareham)
Each of the Research Networks interfaced with three Action Lines that took forward the development of tools and infrastructure in three domains:
- Data discovery (WP Leads: Matthias Schulze, Charles Agyemang, Ken Ong)
- Method harmonisation (WP Leads: Nita Forouhi, Ruth Loos, Donald O’Gorman)
- Data Analysis (WP Leads: Ronald Stolk, Isabel Fortier)
All activities were closely integrated with research funders and stakeholders (WP Leads: Sarah Hills, Ciarán Duffy). Read about each of the work packages and the partners that were involved in the FP7-funded InterConnect project. Read about the InterConnect External Strategic Advisory Group (pdf).
