The InterConnect project has sought to develop a foundation for cross-cohort analyses to enable research to move from explaining the risk of diabetes and obesity within populations, to explaining differences between populations.
This goal has been approached by developing resources to support the discoverability of existing data sources, the harmonisation of data to common formats and the implementation of a new analytical approach which brings the analysis to the data.
The project has engaged with a wide range of stakeholders – researchers interested in questions that require cross-cohort analyses, research funders who wish to maximise the value of data and also wider stakeholders who are users of research evidence – and has developed a range of re-usable tools and communication materials.
