During June and July 2012 the MRC Epidemiology Unit held a series of public meetings for volunteers who are taken part in the ADDITION Study. More than 800 volunteers across the Eastern Region are participating in the ADDITION treatment study, and we were really pleased in the level of interest these five meetings, which were held at:

• The Maltings, Ely on 11th June
• The Bull Hotel, Peterborough on 13th June
• Churchill College, Cambridge on 25th June
• Quendon Hall, Essex on 2nd July
• Ravenwood Hall, Bury St Edmunds on 16th July

Each evening started with a presentation from one of the principal investigators of the study, outlining the findings of the first 5 years of the study, the contribution this unique study will have in the longer term and our plans for the study in the future. The presentation was followed by a wide ranging discussion with many interesting questions from the audience, which highlighted their appreciation of the importance of this research.
