Work and interests
Eirini was a Research Associate whose research interests include the exploration of aetiologic association of dairy product intake with diabetes and cardio-metabolic health. She is also interested in the exploration of objective measures of dairy intake as well as its genetic and environmental determinants. She left the Unit in Spring 2020.
Background and experience
Eirini started her undergraduate studies in the Department of Dietetics and Nutritional Science at Harokopio University of Athens. She then obtained a master’s degree in nutrition and health specializing in epidemiology and public health at Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and she went for her 4-month placement to the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health, Imperial College London.
Prior to starting her PhD, she worked as the Coordinator of the Nutrition team in the Hellenic National Health And Nutrition Examination Survey in Greece and parallel to that she worked voluntarily for a systematic review on the effectiveness of food regulation at schools, held by the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy in Tufts University. She gained her Phd with the Unit’s Nutritional Epidemiology Program, under the supervision of Professor Nita Forouhi and Dr Fumiaki Imamura.
