Current work and interests
Ying Xu is a PhD student supervised by Professor Nita Forouhi, with research interests in the role of diet in age-related conditions, illnesses, and diseases. His work explores the relationship between dietary patterns and various health outcomes, including obesity, cardiometabolic diseases, and multimorbidity.
Background and experience
Before joining the unit, Ying completed a master’s degree at Tsinghua University, where his research focused on identifying risk factors associated with patients’ aggressive tendencies in healthcare settings. Previously, he completed a BSc in Bioinformatics at Central South University.
Prior to starting his PhD, Ying worked as a research assistant at the Evidence-Based Medicine Center of Taizhou Hospital in Zhejiang Province, China. In this role, he contributed to various clinical projects, including studies on sarcopenia, coronavirus disease, cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and emergence agitation and delirium.
