Current work and interests
Azween is a Research Laboratory Technician in the Biorepository team. Her work includes processing the standard protocol of different types of biological samples, mainly blood and urine. This includes blood sample fractionation, aliquoting and storage. She is the lab point of contact in regards to NDNS sample queries, and is responsible for transferring and/or re-arraying serum, plasma, urine and DNA samples between different labware by manual and automated transfer methods. Azween works with automated, high-throughput, low temperature storage systems on a daily basis and troubleshooting.
Background and experience
Azween holds a Master of Research (MRes) in Biomedical Science and Translational Medicine with Distinction from the University of Liverpool, specialising on stem cells, tissues and diseases. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2021 with a BSc in Biomedical Science.
Prior joining the Biorepository team, Azween worked as a Laboratory Assistant in a private diagnostic lab focusing on food sensitivity and nutrition.
