Qualifications
PhD (Epidemiology), MSc (Epidemiology), BSc (Human Physiology & Anatomy)
Background and experience
Will’s scientific career began with foundational studies at The University of Melbourne, subsequently graduating with a Masters degree specialising in epidemiology. He became particularly interested in infectious diseases, including antenatal influenza vaccination and antibiotic resistance, leading him from The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity to the tropical north of Australia to complete a PhD on the surveillance and burden of bacterial infections.
At the end of 2022, Will joined the Centre for Neonatal and Paediatric Infection at St George’s, University of London, working on the ADILA project, using antibiotic resistance and consumption data to inform local action.
Will is passionate about optimising the use of existing data resources to help inform decision making and reduce health inequalities.
Current work
Will started as a postdoctoral research associate within the Population Health Interventions programme in March 2024. He is working with a multidisciplinary team exploring the dynamic association between the environment and health-related behaviours (such as physical activity and diet).
