Current work and interests
Joseph joined the unit in May 2023 and is working as a clinical research assistant on the Fenland study. His role involves data collection on physical activity, anthropometry, DEXA, venepuncture, and laboratory analysis, to investigate and understand the trajectory of gene-environment interactions and how these impact obesity, type 2 diabetes, and other cardiometabolic disorders.
Background and experience
Joseph has a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana. He has over ten years of work experience with the Ghana Health Service as a biomedical scientist. He headed the Laboratory department of the Juaboso Government Hospital where he undertook biochemistry analysis on both clinical and research samples.
After being awarded the Australia Awards Scholarship in 2019, he went on to pursue a Master of Science in Epidemiology at the University of Melbourne which he completed in 2021.
