Research Associate
Global Diet and Physical Activity Research Group
Current work and interests
Kenneth Anujuo is a Health Scientist, Public Health Epidemiologist, and HEA Associate Fellow. He is the Project Coordinator for the Global Diet and Activity Research Group, GDAR Network, at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine.
His research interests are on health inequalities with an emphasis on diet/nutrition, physical activity, sleep, lifestyle and health behaviour; and how conventional and non-conventional risk indicators coalesce with syndemic hazards to predispose to cardiometabolic non-communicable disease (NCD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Understanding the processes involved will help to generate evidence to inform future global policy and practice.
Background and experience
Before joining the University of Cambridge, Kenneth worked at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (2021-2023) as a Research Assistant and Project Coordinator of the MRC-funded CHANGE Project. He was also an MSc tutor for Epidemiology and Public Health modules (Statistics in Public Health and Epidemiology, Advanced Statistical Methods in Epidemiology, and Introductory Course in Epidemiology and Medical Statistics) at LSHTM.
Previously, Kenneth worked as a Research Fellow at the Drug Safety Research Unit (DSRU) in Southampton (2021) where he was involved in conducting epidemiological, pharmacoepidemiological, and pharmacovigilance studies on drugs and vaccines (including COVID-19 vaccines) safety and utilisation studies in children and adults respectively.
At Amsterdam UMC (previously, Academic Medical Center) University of Amsterdam, where he completed his PhD (2018), Kenneth researched on the role of sleep in ethnic inequalities in cardiovascular disease (CVD) and risk factors, and mental health (depression) among the various ethnic groups residing in the Netherlands.
