Current work and interests
Samuel was the Biorepository Manager at the MRC Epidemiology Unit. His role involved managing the day-to-day running of the Biorepository lab that provides services to research projects and study trials. Some of their services include aliquoting, processing and storage of samples, genotyping, DNA extraction, quantification and qualification. He was the technical expert for the facility, leading the implementation of protocols and preparing project reports for different study teams. Samuel left the Unit in September 2023.
Background and experience
Samuel obtained a PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Fort Hare, South Africa in 2016, and then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at University of South Africa focusing on diabetes research. He previously worked as RNA extraction technician at the Charnwood campus, Loughborough, quality analyst at Plymouth lighthouse lab and then laboratory manager at two different SARS-CoV-2 high throughput labs across the UK. His research interests are in the aetiology, treatments, and management of diabetes.
