Current work and interests
Rachel was a PhD student funded by the ESRC, supervised by Dr Esther van Sluijs. Rachel’s PhD examined physical activity levels of parents using a mixture of quantitative and qualitative methods. She left the Unit in November 2022.
Background and experience
Rachel completed a degree in Graduate Entry Medicine at University College Dublin, followed by a Masters in Public Health at the University of Edinburgh. After this she worked for 3 years as an epidemiologist for the Million Women Study at the Nuffield Department of Population Health at the University of Oxford, mainly focusing on the association between alcohol drinking patterns and disease development, and risk factors for dementia.
