Current work and interests

Alex is a Database Specialist with the Unit’s Data Management team. He left the Unit in November 2023.

Background and experience

Before becoming a database specialist Alex was a Senior Research Assistant with the Field Epidemiology team.

Whilst completing his Master’s degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Science at Bangor University, he secured a position as a health advisor with Bupa, a role which involved providing health assessments, educating clients and, more often than not, cutting through the latest media fad diet.

Prior to starting his role at the Unit Alex took a break from clinical work and became a snowboard instructor in Japan.
