Work and interests
Gwen was the Unit’s Clinical Research Manager, and managed the Study Coordination and Field Epidemiology Teams. She left the Unit in February 2019.
Background and experience
Gwen Brierley joined the MRC Epidemiology Unit in 2013 as the Study Coordinator for PROPELS, a randomised controlled trial investigating an intervention to improve physical activity levels in people at increased risk of developing diabetes.
Since graduating from the University of York in 2003 with a degree in psychology, Gwen has worked in a number of NHS support roles in mental and children’s health. She returned to research in 2007, completing an MSc in health services research in 2010 whilst working as a trial support officer at the York Trials Unit. Since then Gwen has managed a number of trials and published papers on trial methodology.
